Mosaic Theatre Announces
LOMBARDI

- "You don't need to be a football fan to enjoy Lombardi!" - ABC News

Ray Abruzzo
Following their record-breaking tenth season, the Award-winning Mosaic Theatre is proud to announce that their production of Eric Simonson's Lombardi will feature television star Ray Abruzzo in the lead role of Vince Lombardi. The play follows the story of legendary Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi and his wife Marie. It takes place mostly in November of 1965, when a young journalist from New York City comes to live with the Lombardi family in order to write a story.

Television actor Ray Abruzzo is noted for his regular appearances in "The Sopranos" ("Little Carmine" Lupertazzi), "The Practice" (Detective Michael McGuire), and "Dynasty" (John Zorelli). Stage Credits include Quake at Hollywood's Open Fist Theatre and Mauritius at The Pasadena Playhouse. Playing opposite Mr. Abruzzo as Marie Lombardi will be multiple Carbonell Award winner and Silver Palm winner Laura Turnbull.

Of this first production of Lombardi in the Southeast U.S., Executive/Artistic Director Richard Jay Simon says, "We are incredibly excited and fortunate to bring the talents of Ray Abruzzo to the Mosaic. We expect big things in our second decade and look forward to expanding our national identity. I grew up watching Mr. Abruzzo on TV, and am a huge fan of 'The Sopranos' and 'The Practice.' This is a very exciting time for Mosaic Theatre and South Florida audiences. We will be having six performances per week instead of the usual five to accommodate demand."

The Mosaic Theatre is located on the campus of American Heritage School, which is located at 12200 west Broward Blvd in Plantation, Florida. Lombardi runs November 10 - December 4, 2011. Shows are Thursdays & Fridays @ 8:00, Saturdays @ 3:00 & 8:00 and Sundays @ 2:00 & 7:00. Individual Tickets are $39.50 for Adults, $34 for seniors and $15 for students.
