Leonard Bernstein - The Composer Box set

Special edition dedicated to the works of Leonard Bernstein, in preparation of his 100th anniversary August 2018. Includes remastered original Bernstein Conducts Bernstein recordings for Columbia Masterworks of all his symphonies and ballets, plus the Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, On the Waterfront Suite, Mass, Chichester Psalms, Serenade, On the Town, Trouble in Tahiti, Prelude, Fugue and Riffs and the song cycles La Bonne Cuisine and I Hate Music. Also, songs, and chamber and piano works, including recordings by such artists as soprano Harolyn Blackwell, mezzos Marilyn Horne and Frederica von Stade, violinist Joshua Bell, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, clarinetist Sabine Meyer and trumpeter Wynton Marsalis. Also included is Leonard Slatkin's 1992 St. Louis recording of Bernstein s cycle Songfest for six singers and orchestra. Candide, both by the original Broadway cast recording from 1956 and by the revised 1973 Chelsea version conducted by John Mauceri; Wonderful Town from the 1958 television cast recording (starring Rosalind Russell from the 1953 Broadway premiere). Peter Pan in its original Broadway cast recording from 1950 starring Jean Arthur and Boris Karloff, also re-mastered in this special edition. West Side Story, the original Broadway cast album from 1957, and the 1961 movie soundtrack recording. Brian Bedford's one-man show. A CBC Broadcast Centre solo performance featuring Brian Bedford. Recorded in front of a live audience at the Glenn Gould Studio, Toronto in March of 1995.

Songs From Kermit Goell's Pocahontas
(Stage Door Records - new import 2-CD set)
London cast of score by Kermit Goell. From recent discovery by Kermit Goell's son Jonathan of reel-to-reel demo tapes featuring recordings of the score. Recorded in 1962 and performed by a company of Broadway singers under the musical direction of Jay Blackton. Set includes digitally remastered demonstration recordings plus a selection of piano instrumentals from Goell's score, concluding with an in-depth audio interview with Anita Gillette, recorded in 2016 especially for this album. Also, 8-page booklet. The show played London's Lyric Theatre from November 14th, 1963, for 12 performances, starring Anita Gillette and Terence Cooper.
