BOOKs Now Available:

The Making of Cabaret 2nd Edition
(Oxford Univ Press - Hardcover/Paperback Book)
By Keith Garebian. Condensing a wide variety of sources into a handy and engaging chronicle, this book is the most detailed production history to date of the original Broadway version of Cabaret, showing primarily how the show evolved from Christopher Isherwood's Berlin stories (especially the Sally Bowles novella), into John van Druten's stage play, a British film adaptation, and then the Broadway musical, conceived and directed by Harold Prince as an early concept musical or meta-musical. Includes an examination of the first London version (1968), Bob Fosse's 1972 film version, Hal Prince's 1987 Broadway remount, Sam Mendes's stunning 1998 production, Rufus Norris's London re-imagining (2006), and Amanda Dehnert's new investigation for the Stratford Festival of Canada (2006), and speculates on what the future holds for this musical. Nearly 40 illustrations, full cast credits, and a bibliography.

The Sound of Musicals
(Oberon Masters - Hardcover Book)
Ruth Leon tells all about the composers, the lyricists, the directors and the pioneers of the stage musical on both sides of the Atlantic while trying to reveal the truth behind the eternal question—what are musicals and why do we love them?

Theatre World Volume 66: 2009-2010
(Applause - Hardcover Book)
Ben Hodges and Scott Denny, editors. Annual comprehensive record of the theatrical season on Broadway, Off-Broadway, Off-Off-Broadway, and in regional theatre. Beyond the Fringe
(EMI - import 2-CD set)
Before opening at London's Fortune Theatre on 10th May 1961 the Beyond The Fringe cast had a try-out with a one week run at Cambridge's Arts Theatre from 24th-29th April. This is a recording of the Cambridge show recorded on 24th April, their first night, in front of a very enthusiastic and appreciative mostly student audience. It can now be heard for first time for 50 years. Over two hours of material, including 9 previously unreleased sketches which did not make the London run for either editorial reasons, or the Lord Chamberlain's disapproval.
