| In case anyone was curious, Eden was in tonight. I thought her performance was very affecting. Her acting is excellent even if her voice sounds strained at times. To her defense, it’s a demanding role with A LOT of bombastic power ballads. 8 times a week has got to take a toll. I’m glad I saw it. I understand a lot of the criticism, but I think it’s got an interesting story to tell even if it’s messy and imperfect. I actually got a little lump in my throat at the end. Also - Amber Iman sings the house down! Really, really good. And…Beth Leavel is a total pro who makes a delicious meal out of this small snack of a role. If only there were more for her to do. I enjoyed this much more than WATER FOR ELEPHANTS. Although I realize that’s a low bar. |
