Another stage to screen transfer was a little thing called "The Miracle Worker." Anne Bancroft wasn’t even arguably one of the greatest actresses of all time--she was one of the greatest actresses of all time on stage, screen and television. Her theatrical and film accomplishments are breathtaking. She made the film version of “84 Charing Cross Road” simply because she loved the piece, knowing that it had very little chance of making money.

None of the movies you have mentioned would have been made without her participation or the participation of another accomplished, well-know movie actress. All of them were long shots at best to succeed as movies. Agnes of God was actually a modest financial success, helped by Jane Fonda and the reviews that Bancroft received.
