I saw Getty, who was a perfect match for the larger than life, irrepressible Harvey. They had something so innately their own, their chemistry seemed genetic. I think with this Arnold, the Getty approach would seem more ... for lack of a better word ... grandmotherly. The play feels younger, even if the ages aren't that different (Urie is 37, but his boyishness suggests any age a production needs him to be. He certainly didn't seem 35ish in the play with LuPone at LTC). Ruehl is probably an ideal match for Urie in many ways. When she was cast (and yeah, she's 69, but 69 in 2017 is very different than in the early 80s), I thought "Phew," they're not trying to duplicate Getty.
