| She was wonderful, funny, needy, and urgent. Neil Simon showed her the first act of the play, she liked it , and he then wrote the rest of it with her in mind, so in some ways the role was tailored to her. If you want to imagine what she was like, look at her in "The Carpetbaggers," as a swank, wisecracking, but love hungry young woman...she did that, but better in Barefoot. Got a Tony nomination for it, unless my memory is playing tricks on me. |
