I am pretty sure Platt is gay and out in his private life but I don't think I've ever heard or read him talk about it opening or using gendering pronouns in interviews etc. That video about the worst break up posted below is the first time I've heard him refer to a male he was dating.
I think it's very cool it's not an issue but at the same time I know there a thousands and thousands and maybe millions of teens watching/listening to Evan Hansen and/or Pitch Perfect who could really do well to know that he is, either to have a young gay actor to relate to openly or for straight teens (and people older than that, and parents) to know that yet another person they follow and identify with is openly gay. |
