I saw them both.

No one is as fierce as Ruehl. She made "The Goat"'s black humor sharp and provocatively scary. Field brought the element of surprise. When she detonated, it felt like a lifetime of pent-up rage finally released. It was both more harrowing and more comic because Field in the predicament had a more palpable perversity. Both were winning.
