| After all, The Honeymooners has barely ever been out of the public consciousness, thanks to reruns through the 1980s and a big-screen reboot just over a decade ago (plus, I seem to recall a Brad Garrett biopic of Gleason in which it featured heavily). I think the larger problem is that those who do remember The Honeymooners fondly from childhood reruns -- which probably includes a surprising number in this forum -- don't see the point in turning it into a Broadway show! I mean, I love Gilligan's Island... but would I dash out to see a B'way musical reboot? Nah. (Not when I can just play the Harold Hecuba episode over and over and over...) |
