It's Columbus Day: Time to rediscover Meredith Willson's flop musical '1491'?

Does anyone know this show, or could've seen it? The ''Music Man'' maestro wrote this musical about Christopher Columbus with Richard Morris (''The Unsinkable Molly Brown''), who also directed it. John Cullum played Columbus, and Chita Rivera was his mistress. ''1491'' was headed for Broadway, but opened in September 1969 in Los Angeles to ''a sea of bad reviews'' and closed that December in San Francisco. (It was Willson's final show.)

Are there any legit recordings? One of the ''1491'' songs, ''The Wonderful Plan,'' was used in the recent revival of ''Molly Brown.''

And there is a ''1491'' souvenir program, featuring its logo, on sale at Amazon.com. Yours for a mere $199.99!
