Bette Davis bid her final farewell to the play Step On a Crack on a Saturday night in Boston in 1962--with the Broadway opening already set for the following Wednesday. Davis' understudy, Pauline Flanagan, replaced her for the Broadway opening night--which also turned out to be the Broadway closing night.
