| What I heard, from a reliable inside source, was that Danner demurred from signing her contract and then withdrew after a first read-through. Probably a bad career decision, though a case could be made that the play may've seemed offensive or too slight. It certainly proved (mainly because of her Frank Rich review) a major boost for Stockard Channing's career. |
