The replacement happened out-of-town, but Tony Curtis had been set to star in this (lesser) Neil Simon play and was replaced with Ron Leibman by the time it came to Broadway.
Those two, come to think of it, are about as alike as Tudyk and Shamos.
Then of course there was Holland Taylor replacing Eve Arden in Moose Murders and Betty Buckley replacing Barbara Cook in Carrie, the name of this chapter being "The Dodged Bullet." |
