When we discussed this here a few months ago — I have some of the thread on another computer not handy at the moment — didn't we pretty much reach the conclusion that whatever else was going on, Danner wanted out so that she could do The Prince of Tides? The timing worked out almost exactly. At first glance, it may seem that it doesn't, but shooting was delayed because of the illness of Streisand's mother.
I always knew who had been replaced because the Times had reported that Danner was going to be one of the stars, even though Guare later refrained from naming her in his introduction to the published script. |
