I thought this was the most famous replacement considering it made Holiday a major star. Or did I miss someone else's posting this example?
My other example is more obscure. Eleanor Parker and Edward Villella were replaced by Joan Copeland and Christopher Chadman in the Circle in the Square revival of Pal Joey. They didn't even have a gown for Copeland in the beginning and she went on in jeans. I saw an early preview with the first two. Ouchy! |
