| I'm not sure why you're looking for examples where an above-the-title actor was replaced or fired in rehearsals or previews, but not after an out-of-town tryout. Does this mean you’re not interested in examples where an actor was replaced or fired during an out-of-town tryout? I mean, that’s when it often happened back when shows generally went directly from an out-of-town tryout to previews on Broadway and then a Broadway opening (or sometimes, if you go back far enough, to an opening on Broadway with no Broadway previews, just an out-of-town tryout and then a Broadway opening). | |
