that Kazan was her Eve Harrington or Terri Klausner (years before "Evita" of course). There's the famous story that Kazan got wind she was going on and had newspaper people there to review her. She got excellent notices, and Barbra was miffed to say the least that someone was basically raining on her parade. Not quite the same as the pre-Broadway or pre-opening firings, but a good tangential one to Lainie's other firings. She was a fine performer; I saw her in "My Favorite Year", and she was hired for all these shows in the first place, so she certainly was talented.
