According to some friends who have seen the show, this is not simply a concert in a Broadway house, it's a collection of stories told from the stage punctuated by songs, in a way that has an arc and lands a compelling story. These are savvy theater-goers and -makers and they, to a person, found it to be among the best nights in the theater they have had in some time. I was of the same option as you initially, but these reports and others suggest we may be selling this piece short.
