This sounds like the ticketless system which Cameron Mackintosh and the other producers are introducing for the London production of Hamilton.
No tickets are given in advance of the performance. Access to the theatre is by showing the credit card used for the booking and photo id. All members of a party must enter the theatre at the same time - and there is no readmitance.
It hasn't been put the the test yet as the production hasn't opened - and I'm sure that some will try and find ways of abusing the system.
But it is good that some producers and theatre owners are looking for ways to try and combat the inflated resale market (though I don't think in London that it's anywhere near the scale of NYC). |
