I can't understand why they couldn't have just done a 90 minute version - nobody would have known the difference and they would have gotten a lot more money from ticket buyers.
You realize the theater "got" the money of those ticket buyers whether they stayed or not, right?
This production is selling very well. Several performances are already sold out, and they've added performances to compensate for the demand. Brevity in and of itself is not a virtue.
