Could this be the first time any theater has produced the 1989 Best Musical winner since it closed on Broadway (in 1990)?

I forget: Did it tour? The original N.Y. production had a cast of 62. (Compare that to ''Prince of Broadway'' and its cast of 9.)

The MUNY's also doing: ''Jersey Boys,'' ''Annie,'' ''Gypsy,'' ''Singin' in the Rain,'' ''The Wiz'' and ''Meet Me in St. Louis.''

I've never been to this outdoor theater that seats 11,000 (and wanna go), but maybe others here can share their memories.

By the way, isn't it time that the MUNY got a Regional Tony Award? That would be a wonderful way to celebrate its centennial.

(The Paper Mill Playhouse just got theirs last year ... 82 years after it was founded. ... Which other noted regional theaters are so overdue?)
