Hey, I wouldn't be caught dead buying a premium ticket to a Broadway show. And I am not thrilled by the "regular" prices either. But the idiot who would fork over $1000 for a ticket is most likely on an expense account or a member of the "1%". Often, when premium seats aren't sold by the day before a performance they revert back to the regular price.
I go to the theatre (Broadway and Off) at least once a week and have never missed a show because there were premium tickets on sale. This past season I got to see lots of great theatre via the TKTS booth, including big Tony - winners.
Trying to make you feel better, BroadwayMike. There's plenty on Broadway for you to see. We'll both stay away from the Disney stuff and the premium seats, but theatre is thriving despite the fact that producers want to make money.
