The story I heard about this went as follows:
Before "Miracle of Miracles" was written, Motel was actually singing "Now I Have Everything"
Bert Convy, playing Perchik, thought it would be a popular hit, so he talked the writers into giving the song to his character
The other part of the story is that Convy actually gave the writers the idea for "Miracles of Miracles" for Motel.
Of course, "Miracle of Miracles" turned out to be the more popular song, and "Now I Have Everything" was the only major number cut from the movie.
I would love to find out if any of this story is actually true. |
