| Caught this on what was, I guess, it's final weekend. Really enjoyed it and thought it played well on a thrust stage, with entrances made from the corners. Highlights were cast members Holly Twyford (Desiree), Bobby Smith (Fredrik, with another success after his performance in "Titanic"), Tracy Lynn Olivera (a less traditional Charlotte showing several facets in the character), and the lovely Florence Lacey (Madame Armfeldt). There were terrific costumes designed by Robert Perdziola, and director Eric Schaeffer nearly reached the heights of last year's "Titanic" staging. My only complaint would be the sound design - for some reason the Liebeslieders were blaring, maybe just from where I sat. |
