Changes were definitely made between the National Theatre and Broadway but I don't think Aloysia Weber was ever a character. And Aloysia is not in any cast list I can find for the National Theatre production.
I believe that the first publication of the script represents either what was performed at the National or even a slightly earlier version. My memory is that this was a case when the playwright supplied a script to the publisher either before rehearsals began or during rehearsals. I suspect it might be a bit tough to find that first edition now, if only because when you buy used books online, it's often so difficult to be sure that you're going to get a particular edition that you may specifically want. |
