| I would agree with a couple of other remarks made below. Judd Hirsch and Anita Gillette definitely played more than is on the page. They brought a depth to it that wasn't there in the film. Marsha Mason brought some but James Caan was a little out of his depth. Cliff Gorman and Ann Wedgeworth were a phenomenal couple. Ms. Wedgeworth brough an empty headedness to the role that was hysterical yet added some sweetness. Gorman was just damn funny. The movie used different sensibilities for that couple and it didn't work. Plus, I was worried for Valerie Harper as she looked waaaay too thin in that film. |
