Broadway Grosses 10/15 — ‘The Band’s Visit’ strong in 7-performance week.

  • Last week, which ended October 15, Broadway grosses totaled $29,928,496 for 28 shows.

    In the prior week, which ended October 8 and included the Columbus Day holiday weekend, Broadway grosses totaled $30,239,540 for 29 shows.

    In the comparable week last year, Broadway grosses totaled $25,369,050 for 29 shows.




  • Broadway grosses kept pace with the prior holiday week. Grosses were off by just 1%.

    — Of the new shows in previews, The Band’s Visit is the strongest. The musical grossed $768,914, about 84% of its potential, for 7 performances and sold out the Ethel Barrymore Theatre at a $105 average ticket price.

    — The new plays in previews - Junk (8 performances) and M. Butterfly (7 performances) - each grossed in the $500K range and filled 83% of the seats, paid and comped, in their venues.

    — Springsteen on Broadway played a 5-performance week, the same as his first week. However, because of press and opening night comps, the gross was down by $-407,290. Still Bruce Springsteen grossed $1,924,818 at an average admission price of $410. Look for higher numbers next week and the weeks after.
