Hey, if you saw that, wasn't that your first professional Moliere? It was the first professional Moliere I saw. I sat in the first row at the Lyceum, and I remember it quite well after all these years.
The production was recorded for Caedmon (perhaps you know it from the recording, not from seeing it?), as was an APA-Phoenix production of Wilbur's translation of The Misanthrope a few years earlier.
And, of course, there was the PBS adaptation (available on DVD) of the Circle in the Square Tartuffe, but without the entire stage cast, and with Donald Moffat not quite right in the title role. Why did I not know till just now that he was born in England? |
