I wish I could feel that way, lol. I've never warmed to the score. Parts of it are fun, but I have to admit I find it generally a big snooze. Eh - one can't like everything, I guess.

Back in college, I got to know Lehar's more obscure Zigeunerliebe ("Gypsy Love") which has some truly marvelous stuff in it - but it too, is uneven. (But there's this incredibly beautiful piece near the beginning with the soprano singing to the "gypsy's" violin obbligato - absolutely gorgeous.)

It's hard for me to pick a "best" G&S, but Iolanthe is certainly a contender. It also has one of the best Act I Finale sequences of all the G&S's, IMO. It's also the first of the G&S's I got to conduct, in college - and I have a real soft spot in my heart for it.
