| Wow, I am truly impressed when you can discuss one version of the book vs another. I have never seen Babes in Arms (Judy Garland movie excepted, but then that has nothing to do with the stage version). Based on other shows of the same era, I doubt the original book would hold up well, but I also find re-writes usually a major mistake, and that goes DOUBLE for Hugh Wheeler and his Candide book. For me, Life is NOT Happiness Indeed. |
