I agree that the Oppenheimer version is a real dog. I believe it's the version usually licensed today by R&H. What it does have going for it is a small(er) cast, and the elimination of a song that some today would find problematic.
25 or 30 years ago the original version was done (in concert version) by the Library of Congress. I believe it was conducted by John McGlinn. Dated, but in a way that I like.
