I feel much the same as you regarding seating in Broadway houses. Would center orchestra always be great? Of course! But I have seen many more plays/musicals opting for balcony and rear mezzanine seats. I've never had a seat in a Broadway houses that I thought was awful, including balcony seats at the Palace and St. James!
