Was it flawed? Yes. But very, very fixable.
It was hands down one of the funniest musicals I have seen these past three seasons (that includes NY and London) with a terrific score, excellent choreography and a performance from Beth Leavel that was a tour-de-force. I had heard they were doing a lot of post production fixing/cutting/rearranging and I can't wait to see the results.
It has a tremendous amount of Broadway "in" jokes that are very smart and quite funny without feeling forced or smug. Getting that right is no mean feat. And yes, the premise is quite silly with the whole "Broadway stars to the rescue" thing but let's see what happens. |
