Why "no"?

If you read my post, I said that standbys are usually for leads or prominent performers. The leads of Wicked carry such weight in the production that it is important that the roles be filled by performers who have proven that they have the ability to handle the responsibilities. Lead roles (especially in musicals) usually require and extra level of skill--so really does not matter if the actor being replaced is famous or not. The roles demands are too great for an ordinary understudy.

I imagine that that because musicals have larger casts they can assign understudies from within the production. However, this is not the case for non-musical productions and a look at IBDB will confirm that most understudies are not in the production.
