The Portuguese Kid, MTC

This light, whirling-jokes-a-minute show was entertaining, if not especially deep. With so many ripostes flung about, there are certainly a number that don't land, but those that do are really funny.

The cast was terrific, and even though their characters are necessarily not especially three dimensional, they work well as an ensemble and fully inhabit the zaniness of the concept. It felt like somewhere between a skit and a sitcom, and I don't mean that as a criticism.

I enjoyed it for what it was, and the audience around me was almost rapturous. Opens Tuesday, I believe.

Would love to know others' thoughts, as I don't recall reading about it here (I did a quick search and didn't see anything).
