I've seen other productions, and the headwaiter is always snooty and apoplectic about anything that might destroy the ''Romantic Atmosphere.'' One of the nicest bits is that he also finds the rose that Georg dropped, but chooses not to tell Amalia about it, and keeps her hopes up. Sweet.
