Me too!
I work with several small theater companies out in the hinterlands and we have never been able to produce Chicago because of our proximity to touring houses. (We live in a college town.) For over 15 years, we have applied every year for a license and have been denied despite the fact that a national tour has NEVER played here--the producers have a blackout on any market where there could be a potential tour. Consequently, only professional productions (and the licensing is indeed steep) happen and occasionally a school show. |
