| I was told that it took years of negotiations to secure permission to do the '75 version. In addition the family that owns and operates Drury Lane has a strong connection with a lot of Broadway producers. They have on many occasions rented the sets and costumes from recently closed Broadway shows and used them in their productions. I actually was not aware they were staging the '75 version of Chicago until late in the run. I think I did post about the production after I saw it, but it was probably too late for anyone from out of town to plan a trip to see it. I know it's been nominated for the 2017 Best Musical Jeff Award, although competition is pretty intense this year. |
