Amy and Uma one day apart
Posted by: broadwaybacker 05:10 pm EDT 10/28/17

The Parisian Woman opens one day after Meteor Shower. I wonder how much TPW will be overshadowed by Schumer's show. I actually think that TPW might be very worthwhile. Aside from Thurman, who's a very good actress, I have faith in both the writer and in Pam McKinnon, who has an excellent history with plays. I have no idea how the advance is, but it no doubt pales in comparison to Meteor Shower.

Both are limited runs, right? I might try and see them on consecutive nights.

Seeing ''Amy, Uma'' reminds me of ''Yma, Ava. Ava, Yma...''

I'm thinking of the ''Yma Dream,'' a comic piece that the late Thomas Meehan once wrote for the New Yorker.

Anne Bancroft performed it, as she recalled a party at which she met a slew of celebrities: Yma Sumac, Ava Gardner, Abba Eban, Oona O'Neill ...

Truly brilliant comic piece. Loved it!
