| I'm surprised no reaction here about this concert; I've gone to several productions of "Of Thee I Sing", and the music and lyrics have always been a joy to hear. I prefer Pinkham singing more in the tenor range than baritone, but it's usually the Diana Devereux who can steal this show -- Paige O'Hara over at BAM many years ago in a dual concert of "Of Thee I Sing" and "Let Them Eat Cake" was marvelous and of course, Lenore Lonergan's bizarrely perfect performance on the Jack Carson/Paul Hartman recording is priceless. Betty Oakes is wonderful negotiating Mary's at times high tessitura on that recording. Looking forward to this concert. There are discount codes around too. |
