I made the same mistake when the story first broke about Harry Hadden-Paton's casting. I saw his photo & thought he was playing Freddy.

All the buzz had centered on Colin Firth; I never heard Hadden-Paton's name, and I don't watch ''Downton Abbey,'' so he's new to me.

It's unusual to see a ''My Fair Lady'' where the actress playing Eliza (Lauren Ambrose, 39) will be older than the Higgins (Hadden-Paton, 36).

Ambrose will be nearly twice as old as Julie Andrews was when she originated the role (at age 21), over 60 years ago in 1956.

It's also time for the Theatre Wing to look past the ''Victor/Victoria'' flap in 1996, and give Andrews her Tony for Lifetime Achievement.

Andrews has an Oscar, a SAG award, 2 Emmys, 5 Golden Globes, a Kennedy Center Honor, etc.; it's sad that the Tonys haven't honored her.
