| That's an error. A few sites have a more appropriate running time: 2 hours, 35 minutes. I saw it Thursday at 2pm at Kew Gardens, and was exiting the theater at 4:30pm. There was very little "filler" at the beginning of the broadcast, then a short discussion with the director, followed by an interesting compilation of Sondheim interviews prior to beginning the show. It was shown without an interval, just as it is being presented at the National. There were no transmission issues. Outside of a few balance issues, with the orchestra sometimes overpowering the vocalists (IMHO), it was glorious! I thought the camerawork was extremely well done. |
