I just saw ONCE ON THIS ISLAND and was so impressed with this beautiful production. I had seen other stagings previously, including Paper Mill Playhouse in 2012, but this one was truly special. As others have already pointed out, the director's vision really enhances the storytelling which is already top-notch.
The entire cast is very strong, but Merle Dandridge as Papa Ge REALLY stands out. She fully embodies the "sly demon of death" and her powerful voice really soars. She is truly a star!
I would strongly suggest getting your tickets now. I think this show will be a big hit! |
