| I saw the Sunday matinee and was really disappointed that the director and musical director did not trust the show. The whole opening prelude (which was played to open act 2) and the offstage choral ensemble which sets the tone for the piece was totally missing...as was the choral contributions in the Mr Lundy scene. They removed many crucial lines (esp for Jeff) and the ending was appalling: there is no "reprise" of "There but for you go I"...and only Mr Lundy appears out of the mist. Such a pity as the cast was certainly capable of performing the show as Lerner & Loewe wrote it. |
