Several years ago Fathom showed the restored West Side Story. I saw it at an Eastside Manhattan theatre.
The sound wasn't synced correctly and the volume kept shifting from too soft to way too loud.
My guess was that the syncing problems were beyond the control of the theatre.
And they did give out passes after the showing.
