| I agree. I raised this point earlier on this Board and someone made me feel better about it by saying it's a story about the power of love. But at the same time, I really don't like stories where someone is a kind and loving person who gets treated badly and just seems to come back for more... and when that person is a woman, and a person of color, even worse. I know people in this thread are saying it's a fable, and it's of its time so don't judge it by modern expectations - and I get that. I just don't LIKE this fable. It's a gorgeous production but it left me uncomfortable. |
