| Makes "Pippin" look like "Lohengrin." Not for me. The many kids in the audience had a really good time as well as a lot of adults (who were probably fans of the Nickelodeon show). The numbers that worked have been working for a hundred years (the nerd who can really tap dance when a chorus line pops up, for instance, and the Natasha/Boris team, etc). The agitprop was only there in brief smatterings to make a connection to "relevance." The songs were relics that the Muppets would find corny. The costumes were extravagant, but the special effects mostly fell flat. The cast makes the dancers in "Natasha and Pierre" seem lazy. Did I say it's Not for Me. |
