| Those lines that Weisman had about his interactions with the Follies girls back in the day, and the spoken lines that Sally and/or Ben had over the orchestra at the end of "Too Many Mornings" -- were either or both of those sections of dialogue new to this production? If any of it was new, who wrote it? Bobby Goldman? Why do we think those lines about the theater being torn down to become a "parking lot" were changed to an "office building?" I guess maybe the latter was a more realistic fate for a theater in NYC in 1971. Of course, even more realistic would have been "hotel." I thought some of the directorial/production decisions were interesting and thers were very odd, but I can't understand the point of having Sally sing "Losing My Mind" at what looked like a theatrical dressing/makeup table. Thoughts? |
