I have absolutely no confidence when it comes to British critics and their taste in musicals. I've sat through incredibly hyped versions of Merrily, Into the Woods, Gypsy and Sunday in the Park that were inferior to their American counterparts; a ridiculously long and unfocused Groundhog Day that wasn't awards worthy aside from Andy Karl and two wildly over praised versions of Follies that were not nearly as good as three versions here--and I didn't see the original. I've only listened to the "she's the second coming" recording of the recent Funny Girl and the less said, the better.
